Susan Dougall was born in Jamaica (the middle of 3 girls) of Canadian parents. She went to boarding school in Toronto at 14 years of age, and then did an honours degree in French and English at the University of Toronto. Between 3rd and 4th year of university Susan taught English in a high school in France for 8 months, and travelled around Europe. She married Alex Dougall in 1977 and moved to Vancouver where she taught French for 3 ½ years at a private girls’ high school. The first of 4 children (Anthony) was born in Vancouver, and the other 3 (Jonathan, Anna and Julia) in Jamaica. Susan and Alex returned to live in Jamaica in 1981. Susan had a catering business in Kingston for 18 years, and then took up painting.
Susan’s passions are: God, family, friends, painting, Southside, the French language and culture, the sea and swimming.
